about me |
Biologist by training and Environmental Health Researcher by passion.
I grew up in the mountains of Serra da Estrela, in Covilhã, Portugal and I really wanted to see the word beyond "Cova da Beira" valley and to work with the scientists that I admired. I was lucky enough to live in wonderful and different places and to work with incredible scientists abroad and here in Portugal. With them, I have learned that science is global and that we can collaborate wherever we are, being in Tokyo or in a small city in the interior of Portugal. Along the way I have made the most wonderful friends and I've married with someone that shares my excitement for science and for teaching the new generation of world citizens. Recently, I found home in Alentejo, Portugal.
I am still passionate about mountains, with a profonde love for forests, and I continue to believe that knowledge is power. I proudly tutor of a 17-year-old cat, Dona Maria Pia, arguably the cat with more acknowledgments in the scientific literature!

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together
